A2 Desktop Speakers Black is rated 4. Rated 5 out of 5 by robbal from Excellent These received a glowing review in Stereophile, so I decided to buy a pair for my new PC. They have excellent build quality, and they sound great.

There is some bass boost typical of small speakers, requiring EQ to rebalance the sound at least to my ears.

Otherwise a very lifelike presentation for all kinds of music – Jazz, acoustic guitar, Indian classical, electronic all sound audioenine. Raising these to ear level makes them sound even better. Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from Almost bought Logitech They’re small compact speaker with a big kick and great range throughout.

They aren’t super bassy but they have good bass and they are perfect for my needs. If you want good bass, I’d say buy a separate sub. I do lots of video editing and having to put on the Sony MDR every time I wanted to hear good audio was tiring. I wanted a compact system that audioenginr great audio and I found it.

Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. Save up and get quality gear that’s build to perform and last. Rated 5 out of 5 by Gary in NYC from Excellent Speakers These speaker are fabulous, they compare favorably to bookshelf speakers and even floor-standing speakers.

They require a break-in period of hours, so you should reserve judgement until you have been using them for a while. There are only two negatives – lack of a headphone jack, and the volume control is on the back of speaker.

What Hi-Fi?

The latter is not really a problem, I just leave it turned all the aueioengine up and control it from the PC, but it would be nicer if audioenfine was on the front and easily accessible.

The lack of a headphone jack is more of an inconvenience for me. However, considering the incredible sound of these speakers I have no regrets. Rated 3 out of 5 by Bradley from Beautiful, if not accurate.

These make pretty great baby bookshelf speakers or computer speakers in non-critical listening settings, they produce an impressive volume and bass for their size, indeed they’ve been tweaked 2a bit bass-heavy to the point of boominess. Not an issue for most uses, but seems like an odd decision at their price point. They look very nice, though I find having the volume control on the back is a bit of a pain. A word of warning if you intend to use these with an iPod or aa2 portable device, they hum quite noticeably when not connected to an audio source.

Rated 3 out of 5 by workinghands from good speakers – design not as friendly I am a video editor and needed some better audioenginw that have a small footprint. I feel the sound of these speakers, especially for the price, is relatively true sound. I will know for sure in a couple weeks after doing a lot of level setting and then testing it with a sound engineer’s system. My complaints are not with the sound, but with the design.

I dislike it very much because the volume button is in the back of the speaker – making it very difficult to get to.

Of course controlling the sound by the keyboard is a way to get around that, but I prefer the ability to control volume with more minute adjustments than the keyboard allows. My other complaint is that there is no head phone jack on the speakers.

And the jack on the front of my computer doesn’t override the speakers. This is a really big hassle. There is probably a way around this perhaps with a duo mini plug jack – but haven’t figured it out yet. Rated 3 out of 5 by Singleframe from Great desktop speakers ISO woofer I love these speakers, but I give them three stars because they’re not a complete speaker system as sold.

Unless you’ve grown accustomed to listening to music through your laptop, then the A2’s are simply missing a woofer. Yes, they do deliver amazing bass for their size, but that’s like saying an ant can move amazing loads relative to its size; at the end of the day, the ant is just moving wheat grains, and the A2’s, despite their parlor trick of blasting paper across your desk through the bass port, still can’t deliver real bass.

However, these speakers are so musical that I decided to break my budget and spring for Audioengine’s S8 subwoofer, too. If you’re a bit of an audiophile and can afford a subwoofer to pair with these, you’ll be well-pleased. Don’t say you weren’t warned! As a video editor and producer, mastering great audio is essential to my clients. After researching various speaker systems available, I became intrigued by this system as I was producing a commercial spot in LA.

I simply couldn’t believe my ears. The AudioEngine 2 speakers are absolutely, hands down the best small studio monitors I have ever used.

The sound imaging, tight bass and overall performance is simply phenomenal. The high ends are incredible and the imaging is spectacular. I highly audiioengine these speakers to anyone who edits video, or someone who enjoys listening to true high-fidelity at an uncommon price. I am now a fan of AudioEngine for life. Rated 4 out of 5 by bundeslagr from Glorious Sound – bad volume button I looked long and hard for amazing sounding computer speakers that were cheap.

I put these up against the Bose 2 desktop 2. They look beautiful and are amazing for the kind of music I listen to probably aren’t ideal for heavy-bass needs which is just fine for me So everything is fantastic except that to turn them off, you have to reach your hand around to the backside of the first speaker and audiiengine the volume dial till it clicks off.

It’s just a very mild nuisance which they maintained to keep the aesthetics clean.

It’s my only quibble. Love the speakers anyway. Be the first to review this item. See any errors on this page? Not Specified by Manufacturer.
