As caps reduce in value their ability to pass low end is compromised. The dbx system, however, exhibits artifacts even when the deck is properly calibrated. If that is not it, I do know from some experience that some dBx units filter very low end base so as to not allow record warps to cause error in the RMS detection circuits. I don’t hear any “expansion” at all. It’s not even a serious debate at all. If not quiet enough for your taste, then I would recommend Dolby, or a better deck. With this 4bx get better dynamic range, punch, and details in the transients of your tracks in the mix or mastering, add details punch and transients in their drum buss in a mixing session, for example.

When I got it, the bypass switch was rbx flaky, I used de-oxit and that cleared things up. Did the schematic come through OK? Edited June 19, by babadono. Anybody else got anything?
Posted June 20, edited. In the units I have dealt with 1KHz is the frequency that the NR unit are calibrated at to the reference levels. Seller information acoustictech Thanks Charles and Steve. The 4BX is not a noise reduction processor, it’s a dynamic range processor. I could say the same about the SAE and my Burwen processors. I don’t wish to offend anybody, but I must tell it like it is. I remember you telling me about the Last edited by J B S; at It is very difficult, mint condition, recapped, calibrated by specialized technicians, it comes with its original box, owner manual, and remote control.
For this unit to cause a frequency skew with your equipment like you describe is certainly a bad thing- I would contact dBx and see what they say about such a condition.
