There were numerous editing problems as well. May 23, Virginia Tican rated it liked it. A contract his father made for him years before and never told him about until he was dying. She hasn’t had the best life, with her awful family, but she learned how to hide from their cruelty and, when she got away, she didn’t let her past keep her down.
The hero was anger personified and the heroine felt like a caricature of the timid female. Unfortunately for Eva, Daniel hardly acknowledges her existence, and when he does, he treats her in a cold and detached manner. It isn’t an easy adjustment for either of them at first but they really do learn to not only get along but to protect and understand each other.
This book just did not do it for me at all. I am frustrated with authors that do this when the book has such a great plot. No trivia or quizzes yet.
Review: Duchess by Chance by Wendy Vella
Puzzling, since all of the elements were vvella. So, I thought I might skip a few pages only to find out I was at chapter 10 out of Rainy Thursdays books, videogames, and all the nerdy things. The romance is so sweet and totally believable.
Daniel, the Duke of Stratton, learns that he’s betrothed to the daughter of an unscrupulous gambler at his father’s deathbed.
Despite this, they find their own way in life and learn to love each other. I thought he was wonderful and I adored him. Eva doesn’t know she is to wed the Duke until she is on her way to the church.
To add I enjoy reading Wendy Vella’s regency romances. Well, in this case She had found out only this morning that she was to wed the Duke.
Duchess By Chance (Regency Rakes, #1) by Wendy Vella
My rating for this book is 3. I loved that she was so loyal and liked that she didn’t forgive easily.
Eva’s father and his partner are trying to get he This was a really cute and fun read. Yet, it definitely doesn’t mean that I’d only hand out three stars.
I absolutely loved that! Will the marriage last? Others I thought I might swoon over something Daniel did or said. And yeah, I must admit, there are some typos but I’m not a native so it might be that I overlooked some and yet, I wasn’t that annoyed by that.
He was so sweet and utterly devoted to protecting Eva. So, I braced myself and barged the rest of the chapters and woohoo for me, I prevailed. The names of some of the characters were a bit strange: Her father and older brothers had abused her and her younger brother horribly.

Her dialogue is equally fantastic. The newly made Duke of Stratton cgance this story with a forced marriage to a total stranger the Miss Eva Winchcomb.
Daniel was also wonderful. See 1 question about Duchess By Chance…. Vella knows when too much is too much.
Duchess By Chance
His father was a mean man and Daniel had that he was to be free upon his death. Eva’s glad to escape her father, but her new husband is angry. Writing is something Wendy has always found time for, and duchss an incurable romantic, the romance genre was a natural fit.
In his eyes, she had crossed him — or more importantly, her family had, and he was not going to differentiate between the two. Eva wins over everyone she smiles at, and I really enjoyed her interactions with the Dowager Duchess.
There were also times that I was absolutely terrified for Eva or Daniel. She feels totally unprepare Danielthe of Stratton, and Eva Whichcom are forced to wed because the Duke’s father lost a wager to Eva’s father.
